Dr. Yago Leira completed a 3-year full-time postgraduate programme in periodontology and implant dentistry as well as an international PhD at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) (2014-2018). Since 2024, he is a senior researcher at USC supported by a Miguel Servet research award funded by the Institute of Health Carlos III (highest category of biomedical research contracts in Spain). He received numerous research awards from national and international scientific societies. His research focus is predominantly on the systemic effects of periodontitis and peri-implantitis. Other areas of research include digital technologies in bone regeneration, clinical applications of platelet concentrates, and new approaches for peri-implantitis treatment. He has published extensively in the field of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. He has been speaker at both national and international scientific congresses.
